Ballantyne Golf Club The Golf Club at Ballantyne offers an impressive par 71 public golf course, extensive facilities and superior service year-round. Golfers enjoy play on the 18-hole PGA course, box Lunch will be provided at  turn house. We will meet in the hotel lobby at 9:00 a.m. for transportation.

Tour  -  Charlotte Motor Speedway & Hendricks Motorsports **

Our tour will start at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series garage. We will  ride through two infield race tracks, make your way down Pit Road and take a picture in Winner’s Circle. Learn the history of Charlotte Motor Speedway while enjoying a comfortable tram ride around the superspeedway where you will feel the full-tilt force of the 24-degree banking. Plus, visit zMAX Dragway and The Dirt Track at Charlotte on this exciting tour!  Lunch will be track-side  at Dale Ernhardt Whiskey River Club

Our next stop will be the Hendricks Motorsports. The campus features state-of-the-art facilities and technology, which the organization’s four NASCAR Cup Series teams  Kasey Kahne, Chase Elliott, Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr., employ in preparation for race day. 

In preparation for the Bank of America Sprint the speedway will be full of activity and some venues may be changed due to accessibility.

Guest Tour

Billy Graham Museum and Library Plus Shopping at SouthPark Mall

Discover pivotal moments in history with an exclusive curator-led tour that chronicles more than 60 years in the life and ministry of Billy Graham. The tour will share personal family stories and explore Graham’s impact over time through remarkable state-of-the-art exhibits and memorabilia. Groups head to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) headquarters and go behind-the-scenes to the broadcasting and video media services where more than 60 years of historical video is archived. Rounding out the visit, participants will have time to tour the Graham family home, visit the memorial prayer garden and shop for unique gifts in Ruth’s Attic bookstore.

Attendee Meet & Greet

Our first session will be a meet and greet the attending credit unions. Each credit union will present a brief description of their credit union any major activities, what has worked for them and what hasn't.  A great opportunity to begin collaboration and have continued discussions throughout the conference so that you  have some takeaways that you may be able to implement at your credit union.

Washington & Industry Update

Dan Berger, National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU) President & CEO, will give you a dynamic and perceptive view inside the political climate in the new Administration and Congress, as well as the NCUA and CFPB.  He will also share his view on the economic and industry trends that affect the entire credit union industry.  Dan has over 25 years of governmental and political affairs experience, and has been named one of the most influential lobbyists in Washington, DC, for 14 consecutive years.  He has been a commentator on Fox News, CNBC and CNN, and is quoted regularly in the Wall St. Journal, The Washington Post and numerous financial publications. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Florida State University and Master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University.

Jim Blaine
Retired CEO of State Employees Credit Union (Raleigh, NC).

Jim Blaine has served as CEO of the State Employees’ Credit Union since 1979. SECU is the second largest credit union in the U.S., with $28 billion in assets and 1.8 million members through 250 branches. It has six call centers and a 1,200 unit proprietary ATM network, called CashPoints, with locations in all North Carolina counties. Membership in the credit union is limited to North Carolina state employees, public school employees and their families.

Blaine is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and holds an MBA from Duke University.

Kevin Smith
Publisher and a consultant with TEAM Resources

He brings extensive experience in designing and implementing professional development resources to grow leaders within the credit union industry. He also oversees the TEAM Resources board self-evaluation programs, and facilitates strategic planning with credit unions and nonprofits.

Previously, Kevin spent 10 years at the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), in the Center for Professional Development as Director of Volunteer Education. In that role Kevin developed and oversaw programs for credit union executives, boards, and volunteers.

Steven Rick is the Chief Economist for CUNA Mutual Group in Madison, Wisconsin. His primary responsibilities include conducting strategic research, analysis, and forecasting of the financial services industry with special emphasis on the consumer and credit union markets.

Steve’s forecasts serve as a starting point for the strategic planning process and help to create a clear understanding of the underlying trends and links between the general economy, the financial services industry, and CUNA Mutual’s policy owners.

J. Mark McWatters Chairman of NCUA

Mr. McWatters was nominated to the NCUA Board by then-President Barack Obama on January 7, 2014. Following Senate confirmation, he took office as an NCUA Board Member on August 26, 2014.

Prior to his joining the NCUA Board, Mr. McWatters served as the Assistant Dean for Graduate Programs and as a Professor of Practice at the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, and as an Adjunct Professor at the university’s Cox School of Business. He also served on the Governing Board of the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs and the Advisory Committee of the Texas Emerging Technology Fund.

Previously, Mr. McWatters served as a member of the Troubled Asset Relief Program Congressional Oversight Panel and as counsel to Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas). He also practiced law as a partner with three large cross-border law firms and as counsel to an international hedge and private equity firm where he specialized in taxation, corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions. Immediately after graduating from law school, Mr. McWatters served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Walter Ely of the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in Los Angeles.

Mr. McWatters is licensed to practice law in Texas and New York and as a Certified Public Accountant in Texas. He earned a J.D. degree from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law and an LL.M. degree from each of Columbia University School of Law and New York University School of Law.

The Charlotte City Tour covers sites including the Historic District in Uptown and two Old South suburbs that feature Tree-Lined Streets, Beautiful Blossoming Trees and Flowers, Fall Foliage, and beautiful and Grand Old South Homes that boast designs to include Tudor, Colonial, Revival, Bungalow, Georgian, and Spanish styles and the Duke Mansion [Former Home of James B. Duke/Duke University] - Includes lunch at a local restaurant.     3.5 hours     $55   Tours will depart at 12:00 p.m. from the hotel lobby.

Reception, Dinner & NASCAR Museum
Reception and dinner  6:00 - 8:30 / Museum till 10:00 p.m.

Our dinner will be within the NASCAR Hall of Fame & Museum.    Come join us to kick back, unwind and celebrate another successful year with NCOFCU.  Our Reception and Dinner will be held within the NASCAR winners row. Following dinner the museum will be open exclusively for NCOFCU where interactive exhibits, simulators and a state-of-the-art theater will make a race fan out of everyone. You won’t see pieces like their impressive lineup of original NASCAR stock cars and Junior Johnson’s moonshine still anywhere else. tour at your leisure. Drinks and deserts will be served throughout the museum.

Please be sure to bring your badge one last time for entry into the event. NASCAR attire acceptable. Last year we went Country this year we're going NASCAR.  Included in attendee, guest and exhibitor registration.

Terry E. Wright is a graduate of Airport High School located in Carleton Mich. He completed his Bachelors of Science Degree in Communications and Business at Union University in Jackson Tenn. He enlisted in the U.S Army after graduating from College. He was selected to attend Officer Candidate School while in basic training. He completed U.S. Army Jump School, Officer Candidate School, and the U.S. Army Field Artillery Basic Course. Terry served his active duty time at Ft. Hood in Killeen Texas.Terry has also been a successful business consultant and coach during the past several years. He specializes in change management, leadership development, and individual and team communications. Terry has given over 5,000 speeches on a variety of subjects, to a myriad of audiences.

If you’re unable to attend, you’re welcome to send a substitute. Or, if you cancel 45 days before the event in writing, you may get a full refund. After that date, there is no refund, but you may use 75% of your registration fee at any future NCOFCU Convention. Registrants who do not cancel and do not attend are liable for the full conference fee.

NCOFCU reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the event due to unforeseen circumstances, and will refund fees if the event is rescheduled or location is changed. In order to be considered for refund, you must cancel your registration due to the change.
